As Singing Waiters we know a great deal of time is spent in planning the perfect wedding and it’s of course not easy to come up with ideas which will make the day a little different but the recent wedding of Helen and Nick at The Green in Liskeard Cornwall definitely achieved this!
Firstly the happy couple abandoned the idea of the ring bearer at the ceremony being (as is tradition) the best man and instead the job went to “a man’s best friend ”a black Labrador dog called, Poppy“
The second was to book 1st call singing waiters John and Clare to perform their special surprise musical act during the dessert course of the wedding meal and although it’s probably true to say that the singers were “upstaged “ by the adorable dog Poppy the venue’s events manager kindly sent these comments to the singers.
“Thanks for a great day today. You and Clare were fab and I’m pleased everything went well for you, you made a lovely day even better and everyone loved it!”
The beautiful Northover Manor was the venue for an outdoor ceremony in the sunshine, in Ilchester, Somerset. Singing Waiters, Simon and Mike were joined by David, the groom, for their last song.
Not only where the guests surprised and amazed by two of their waiters bursting into song, but then to have the groom perform the final number, was the icing on the cake.
The bride, Sharon, also joined in the conga round the room (See Picture).
Every now and then 1st call singing waiters have the pleasure to perform for an event that’s a little bit different or special.

Glorious Singing waiters, Gorment Menu in Gloucestershire
Our glorious singing waiters Maureen and Dylan recently surprised the friends of the popular TV cookery expert and novelist Prue Leith. After serving the delicious menu at the private Gloucestershire party they suddenly burst into song and performed a fabulous selection of both opera and pop favourites.
“Our party was such a success, largely due to your brilliant singing. Not only do you both have really beautiful voices, but you chose just the right blend of popular and opera favourites. You have the personality to engage and captivate wandering guests. Your good humour and professionalism were fantastic, the way you put up with constant changes in chaotic arrangements on our part. One moment you were setting up in the drawing room, then in the playroom, then outside, and you just went with the flow. You have every right to leave when your set was over, but you stuck around to lend us your mic and amplifier for the speeches and were both charming to all and sundry. It’s worth having another party just to have you back.” – Prue Leith
